One man is now behind bars, charged with murder in the strangulation death of a Gulfport woman.
Police say 34-year-old Willie Cenales was charged with murdering 52-year-old Tammy Brown. Officers responded to the report of a suspicious death at 8 a.m. on March 2nd. Through extensive investigation, it was determined that Cenales was responsible for the strangulation of Brown.
Authorities tell News 25 that Brown and Cenales were familiar acquaintances. No motive has been released at this time. Lieutenant Matt Thomas with Gulfport Police Department said, “This arrest stems from an investigation that began on March 2nd. At approximately 8:15 a.m., Gulfport police responded to the 4700 block of 11th Street in regards to a death that was deemed suspicious. Further investigation revealed that 52-year-old Tammy Brown died as the result of a homicide. The reason for the delay in time on reporting this was to ensure that an arrest was made. We also believe that there is no further danger that Mr. Cenales posed to the public.”
Cenales is being held at Harrison County Adult Detention Center on a $2 million bond.
