Downtown Ocean Springs’ only Irish pub is closing its doors, but not without a big party.
The day that the owners picked as the Flying Irishmen Pub’s last hurrah couldn’t have been more appropriate, starting this morning the pub was gearing up for a giant farewell party set to go from open to close St. Patrick’s Day.
The family owners opened the pub over three years ago and tell News 25 the bar was a fun run, but it was just something to check off the bucket list and now it’s time to move on.
One Ocean Springs resident of Irish decent shares why he showed up early to the party. Ocean Springs resident Callin Tool said, “Just getting together, having a few beers, just having a laugh and relaxing for a day especially after work and how life normally is, just hanging out.”
Flying Irishmen Pub Manager Anora Walper said, “It is one big family here, all the customers come in and we know everyone by name. It’s really just a comfortable environment to be in, so it’s a great place we’re going to miss it when it’s gone, but it’s good.”
Part of the proceeds at tonight’s farewell party will go to help the homeless.
