Big changes are coming to Mississippi’s alligator hunting season.
Mississippi Department of Wildlife introduced changes on how hunters will get a permit from the previous first come, first serve to a lottery style drawing.
Those interested in obtaining a permit will have a seven to ten day period to apply. After the period has closed, a drawing for all 920 permits will take place. The price of the permit will also increase from $150 to $200.
The filing is now open for a 30 day public hearing. If you are interested in contacting the Mississippi Department of Wildlife on the ruling you can call, email or send them a letter.
After the 30 day period, the new law will go into effect for this upcoming alligator hunting season.
