Some four-legged friends at one local humane society will have a new place to stretch their legs.
This morning, the humane society of south Mississippi cut the ribbon on their new walking track.
The track will give dogs an opportunity to get out of the shelter for some fresh air.
All the canines enjoying the track have a 10-thousand dollar grant from Harrah’s Gulf Coast and the Caesars Foundation to thank.
A grant foundation wanted to invest into our community.
“Personally, I’m passionate about animal welfare, but I also work with a lot of people who are really passionate about what the Humane Society does. So we were looking for a unique way to support the organization that kinda fits with what our foundation’s mission is. This donation was a big deal for us. We’re excited about the walking track, and also Club Paws, which will allow children in the community to read to pets and kind of enhance their lives along the way.”

Just in case you’re wondering, all the pets you see here are up for adoption.
This weekend, all dogs are half-priced and lonely heart dogs that have been at the shelter for over 30 days are free.
