City of Biloxi, Harrison County and St. Michael Catholic Church is pleased to announce that the 80th annual Blessing of the Fleet and Shrimp Festival will be held Saturday, May 31st and Sunday, June 1st. The Committee encourages the boat owners from St. Michael, Vietnamese Martyrs and Blessed Seelos Churches and the community to come out and celebrate this long-standing tradition in Biloxi.

On Friday, May 30th, the festivities will begin at 6:00 PM with a reception for past Kings and Queens and the introduction of the 2008 King and Queen Contestants.

The Blessing Mass at St. Michael Catholic Church, located on Highway 90, will be held on Saturday, May 31st. The Committee is also pleased to announce that in honor of the 80th anniversary of this much-loved Biloxi tradition, the Fais Do-Do makes a grand return to the Festival line-up. The Fais Do-Do will be held on Saturday, May 31st on the beautiful Biloxi Town Green. With continuous live entertainment, hundreds of craft vendors, local artisans, and the best seafood in the entire world, the Fais Do-Do is certain to be an event to remember. This festive party will climax with the coronation of the King and Queen.

The celebration continues Sunday, June 1st with the ceremonial wreath dropping at 1:00 PM. Boats will form in the west end of the Biloxi Channel near the Beau Rivage Casino and then parade east in the Biloxi Channel. Shrimp boats and recreational boats are welcome to receive blessing for a safe and bountiful season. Each boat will be blessed by the Most Reverend Bishop Thomas Rodi.

The Committee is now accepting applications for vendors for the Fais Do-Do. Craft booth fees are $50.00 before April 30th and $75.00 after the early-bird deadline. Seafood vendor booth fees are $75.00 and all other food booth fees are $100.00. No vendor applications will be accepted after May 15, 2008. To obtain an application please call (228)435-6339.

Boat participants do not need applications. Dates for submitting applications for Queen Contestants will be announced. All Queen Contestants must be ages 16-19 and must be affiliated with the shrimping industry.

Hub City Classic AQHA Show
The Hub City Classic AQHA Shows is a four-day horse show of the American Quarter Horse. Also known as "America’s Horse", this breed of horses is the most popular breed in the world. The shows will take place on the Complex Grounds throughout the weekend. Admission is free to the general public. The shows will start on Friday 6:00 pm and Saturday-Monday at 8:00 am.
