In addition to the many new classes and exhibits, the Mary C. Cultural Center is now under new leadership as well.
Stacy Howell holds the title of the new executive director. Howell accepted the position after serving as the center’s programs coordinator for the past year and a half. She played a lead role in the creation of Mary C. programming such as the underground theater and the teen arts council.
Howell has also worked with similar organizations along the Coast, like the Biloxi Little Theatre and the Lynn Meadows Discovery Center. “I’ve always been interested in arts and administration since I was in high school and I realized the role that arts can play in someone’s life. How it can increase workplace skills and ACT scores and just a sense of community in a place. I’ve always worked to go toward this sort of goal,” said Howell.
Howell tells News 25 she hopes to create a sense of family at the center during her time as executive director.
