Students at St. James were moving and shaking this morning while exercising brain power.
Move to Learn hopped along to the elementary school in Gulfport for an in person lesson from Coach Larry Calhoun. Over 300 students from pre-K to sixth grade danced beside the instructor while learning about laugh therapy, cool comebacks, and maintaining a healthy diet. The kids at St. James follow the Move to Learn videos in school and were thrilled to see the steps in person.
Coach Calhoun tells News 25 this is an effort in the Magnolia State to transform a new way of learning. “Everyday there’s research coming out talking about how children learn best through movement. This is a great day in Mississippi because I think teachers are causing a paradigm shift in this country in terms of how we educate young people. Education has evolved and this is an example of that evolution.”
