Bay St. Louis Mayor Mike Favre declared a state of emergency due to potential tropical weather this weekend from Nate.
Favre issued the proclamation just after 9:30 a.m. this morning. Bay St. Louis braces for impact as Tropical Storm Nate barrels through Central America en route to the American Gulf Coast.
Nate, which has already claimed the lives of at least 22 people in Nicaragua and Costa Rica, may make landfall as a hurricane after having gained strength over the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. “We are going to start with, you know, in the low lying areas trying to get the ones down there we feel needs to get out. Start helping them get out, barricading streets off, just everyday day to day operations preparing for the storm,” said Mayor Favre.
There are many locations to fill up sandbags throughout Hancock County. The full list can be found here.
