The Spartan Alliance has teamed up with the Scarlet Pearl as one of the charities for their month of giving back.
More than 50 veterans and their caregivers will attend a three day fun-filled weekend of activities. The event kicked off tonight with a flag raising event followed by a salute to the flag during the playing of our national anthem.
Event coordinator Larry Bothner tells News 25 why it is important to bring veterans together. “To connect these guys with a Battle Buddy so they are not sitting at home thinking about something they shouldn’t do. They can pick up that phone to have a support group of a brotherhood and sisterhood.”
The Spartan Weekend as it is known allows veterans the opportunity to gain new friendships with other veterans and offer counsel for those who are suffering from PTSD, depression, and have thoughts of suicide.
