Making Strides against Breast Cancer walks are the largest network of breast cancer awareness events in the nation, uniting communities with a shared determination to fight against the anguish of breast cancer.
That is why thousands of people put on their best pink outfit and walking shoes and headed over to Biloxi Town Green Saturday. Passionate walk participants help raise critical funds that enable the American Cancer Society to fund innovative research. They provide free information and support to anyone touched by breast cancer and help people reduce their breast cancer risk or find it early when it’s most treatable. American Cancer Society Mid-South Division Community Manager Liz Gaulke said, “Truly we were worried. There have been so many fundraisers on the Coast for a variety of things. We weren’t sure if people would step up to come to making strides, but I should have never doubted them. They came out in full force, looks like we had about 8,000 people participate today.”
Event organizers hope thousands of people will return again for next year’s walk.
