Biloxi officially kicked off Christmas last night with their annual lighting of the Biloxi Lighthouse which means the festivities continue with their Christmas on the Water event.
Tonight to kick-off the 32nd annual event, the children’s Christmas parade made its debut and strolled through downtown Biloxi. Over 200 kids, all from kindergarten to fourth grade, marched the streets throwing candy to the community.
To top off the night, Mayor Andrew ‘FoFo’ Gilich flipped the switch to light up the Biloxi Town Green. Cecilia Dobbs Walton with the City of Biloxi Public Affairs said, “So, it’s the Christmas season and as Mayor Gilich says there’s no place like Biloxi and there’s no place like the people we have here. So, they love to come out, be part of these events. We’ve had a good show at the event last night. We have a lot more things going on Saturday. We have our Christmas in the City event that’s in the Rue Magnolia area from 10 to 4. It’s going on with the Christmas on the Water events.”
Tomorrow you can catch the official Christmas on the Water parade at 6 p.m. from Porter Avenue to the Schooner Pier.
