The wintery mix could also potentially be impacting flights.
Today, News 25 visited the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport to get an update on what passengers can expect during these low temperatures.
Although there are no current flight cancelations, Teckie Hinkebein, the director of marketing at the airport, says passengers should check with their airlines, early and often, to see if there are any cancelations.
If you have a scheduled flight, you should stay close to their phones in case the airline needs to make adjustments to your travel plans. “That decision is always left to the airline. As soon as they see that maybe the roads are icy or visibility is low, that’s when they will make the decision if flights will go or fly and at that point, they’ll notify passengers. You just need to check often because you never know when that moment will happen,” said Hinkebein.
Hinkebein says passengers should also stay up to date with the weather conditions of their connecting and final destinations as that could affect their flights.
